Warhammer 40k: NURGLE!

Last week at the LGS I ran into a few friends of mine playing some Daemons vs Chaos Space Marines.

Some people from r/Warhammer may know him as Squoze, the Herald of Nurgle

He also have a blog over at The Lonely Havocs.

He was running full Nurgle as always and I had to get a few pics to share as I really appreciate his skill and creativity when it comes to customization.

Enjoy!

And my all time favorite of his...

Lord Bjorn and Baby Carlos, the one man Wolfpack of Nurgle.

40K December/January League: The Story So Far

With the next Titan Tournament qualifier being an 1850 no allies tournament, I thought Necrons would be the best choice for my personal play style. So, I decided that I would run pure Necrons for the next league to get some practice in. Here's the list:

HQ
Imotekh the Stormlord
Necron Destroyer Lord
  • Warscythe
  • Sempiternal Weave
  • Mind Shackle Scarabs

Royal Court
Harbinger of Despair
  • Veil of Darkness
Elites
10x Deathmarks
  • Night Scythe
Troops
6x Necron Warriors
  • Ghost Ark
6x Necron Warriors
  • Ghost Ark
6x Necron Warriorsts
  • Ghost Ark
6x Necron Warriors
  • Night Scythe
Fast Attack
6x Canoptek Wraiths
  • 2x Whip Coils
Heavy Support
Annihilation Barge
Annihilation Barge
Annihilation Barge

Week 1:
Opponent: Chaos Space Marines
Deployment: Dawn of War
Objectives: 3x Crusade Objectives + Purge the Alien

Abaddon was still standing at the end but not much of anything else for the Chaos Space Marines. Win for the Necrons.

Week 2:
Opponent: Tyranids
Deployment: Vanguard
Objectives: Relic + Heavy Support Kills

Squished some bugs. Sadly this opponent has still not figured out how to make legal lists. Oh well, the evil robots still won soundly.

Week 3:
Opponent: Adepta Sororitas
Deployment: Hammer and Anvil
Objectives: 4x Crusade Objectives + Individual Line Breaker Units

Sisters have gotten SO much better. This was a close game. My opponent apparently forgot about his search lights until nearly the end of the game. With Imotekh making it night fight for the first few rounds, it could have been a game changer. I always say 40K is a game of remembering. Usually the player that remembers the most wins, and I remembered the most this game. Thats a win!

Week 4:
Opponent: Orks/Cypher and Chaos Chosen
Deployment: Dawn of War
Objectives: 4x Big Guns Never Tire Objectives + Purge the Alien (Heavy Support Worth 2)

This was only the 2nd or 3rd time I'd ever played Orks. Despite that fact, this game ended on turn 3 with a Necron victory.

So that's where I stand going into week 5. I'm currently 4/4. I don't know that I've ever had this good of a record during a league. I know I've never won a league series. Only 2 more games left. Hopefully I can keep up the momentum and bring home my first league series "W".

40k Battle Report: Chaos Space Marines/Daemons Vs. Black Templars/Dark Angels

Two headed giant league has come to an end at the FLGS. I could only make it to 2 of the 5 games but I won both of the games I played pretty soundly. Time to give the Eldar/Tau a break as we move to open play for the next few weeks. I decided to delve into my roots and go back to playing the army that I started 40k with, Chaos Space Marines. I also managed to put together a pretty nice Daemons army while in the Fantasy League a while back, so I wanted to be sure to run them as allies.

As open play at my FLGS comes to a close, I think I've finally got a good handle on the new Eldar and Tau codexes. I'm really enjoying the parings and combos I can make with both books, especially when allied with each other or Grey Knights. Last week I got to play a game against my good buddy Sqouze. He's a great dude and one of the best modelers I've ever met. Be sure to swing by /r/Warhammer on Reddit and take a look at some of his work.

Chaos Bikers and Heldrakes are The New Black, But I'm Sure You Already Knew That

It's that time again. The 5 week league at the local game store is about to start back up.  It's going to be based on the Crusade of Fire campaign and I'm wicked stoked. This time out I'm bringing the current scourge of the 40k world. Chaos bikers and Heldrakes. Nurgle bikes are amazeballs right now. The point cost is low and the advantages are high. T6, 12" move, Hammer of Wrath, 4-5+ Jink save, what's not to love. I'm bringing 5 with 2x meltas and sticking my Nurgle Lord on a bike with a Burning Brand of Skalathrax for some S4 AP3 Torrent shenanigans. Heldrakes are very rapey right now dolling out the bad touch with S7 AP3 vector strikes that ignore cover as well as the S6 AP3 flamer of super killstruction. I shall bring 2.

This will be the first time I've brought out my Chaos Space Marines for a league since I started playing at the game store around 2 years ago. I've been working on getting new units to bolster what I already had, and replace some of the units GW turned into sad sacks of dog shit or over costed pantywaists. Rhinos and Defilers anyone. The league calls for 3 lists all at 2000 points. A regular list and a Planetstrike attack and defender list. Here's what will likely be my regular and attacker list:

    HQ
Chaos Biker Lord – 160 Points
    • Bike +20
    • Aura of Dark Glory +15
    • Burning Brand of Skalathrax +30
    • Power Axe +15
    • Mark of Nugle +15
    Elites
5x Chaos Terminators – 228 Points (Deep Strike)
    • (Champion) Combi-Melta/ Chain Fist +17
    • Combi-Melta/ Power Fist +12
    • Combi-Plasma/ Power Axe +5
    • Combi-Plasma/ Power Axe +5
    • Reaper Autocannon/ Power Fist +32
    Troops
    8x Plague Marines – 212 Points
    • 2x Melta Gun +20
    8x Plague Marines – 222 Points
    • 2x Plasma Guns +30
    8x Plague Marines – 222 Points
    • 2x Plasma Guns +30
    10x Cultists – 50 Points
    10x Cultists – 50 Points

    Fast Attack
    Heldrake – 170 Points
    • Baleflamer
    Heldrake – 170 Points
    • Baleflamer
    5x Chaos Bikers – 160 Points
    • Melta Gun +10
    • Melta Gun +10
    • Mark of Nurgle +18
    Heavy Support
    3x Obliterator – 228 Point
    • Mark of Nurgle +18
    5x Chaos Havocs – 125 Points
    • 2x Missile Launchers +30
    • 2x Auto-Cannons +20

So there you have it folks. Let me know if you think I'm being overly cheesy or if it's the perfect amount of Gouda. I'll post up my Planestrike Defense list and an update on how the league is going soon. Hopefully my counterpart and I can get some bat reps up here before to long, and if you're really lucky I'll squeeze in some of the new X-wing Miniatures game shit too. Keep on keepin on people.
