40k Battle Report: Chaos Space Marines/Daemons Vs. Black Templars/Dark Angels

Two headed giant league has come to an end at the FLGS. I could only make it to 2 of the 5 games but I won both of the games I played pretty soundly. Time to give the Eldar/Tau a break as we move to open play for the next few weeks. I decided to delve into my roots and go back to playing the army that I started 40k with, Chaos Space Marines. I also managed to put together a pretty nice Daemons army while in the Fantasy League a while back, so I wanted to be sure to run them as allies.

He won the roll to choose sides and I won the roll to go first. Night fight was on.

He rolled to sieze the initiative and did. However, after thinking about it he changed his mind and decided to let me go first.

Turn 1: All the powers go up on the 2 Princes and everything pushes forward. Obliterators fire at the Landraider and fail to do anything. The Soul Grinder popped the rhino and the explosion killed a Few guys inside. Both Princes took shots at the Scouts and failed to cause any wounds. Chaos Space Marines killed a couple guys that were in the rhino.

He cast Prescience on his Biker squad. His Landraider moved forward opening a lane for the Bikers to move out. They rushed head long for the Keeper of Secrets. He fired all of the Bikers into the Keeper but only did 1 wound. The Tac Squad fired at the Warlord Prince and did nothing. The Landraider took shots at the Obliterators causing a wound.

Turn 2: I roll my reserves and both Heldrakes come on. Again powers go up on the Princes and the Keeper. The Keeper cast Hallucinate on the Bikers and made them unable to shoot, run, declare charges, or strike blows in close combat. The Warlord Prince cast Enfeeble on the bikes. Every thing moved forward to press the attack except the Pink Horrors. The Princes switched to ground mode so they could charge the Scouts and Tac Squad. Shooting from one of the Heldrakes killed 3 bikes. Shooting from the other killed the scouts. Oblits took a hull point from the Landraider. The Warlord Prince attempted to charge the Tac Squad and failed. The Keeper charged into the bikes and made it. He would kill the Librarian. The combat would end as no one was in combat range anymore.

Note: The Heldrake is only removed for ease of model placement. It's not dead.
He rolled his reserves and the Storm Talon came in. He moved the Landraider towards the center and the Crusader Squad jumped out. The Tac Squad and Landraider killed my Warlord Prince. The Storm Talon took a hull points from the center Heldrake. The Crusader unit multi assaulted a unit of Chaos Space Marines and the Obliterators. The Aspiring Champion had to challenge. I of course didn't expect him to live since he was going up against a power axe but some how both guys managed to whiff. He did one wound to an Oblit and killed it. I took out a few and won the combat. He made his moral check and the melee continued.

Turn 3: The Keeper cast Hallucinate on the Crusaders in the center and made them unable to shoot, run, declare charges, or strike blows in close combat. Warp Speed and Endurance went up on the Daemon Prince. The 2 Heldrakes few over the Storm Talon and killed it with vector strikes. The Keeper moved up to assault the Chapter Master and the rest of the bikes. The Daemon Prince moved to assault the Tac Squad. The Soul Grinder and 2nd unit of Chaos Space Marines moved to support the 2 units already in combat. A Heldrake killed the 2 bikes remaining with the Chapter Master. The 2nd Heldrake finished off the Tac Squad. The Daemon Prince Ended up assaulting the Chapter Master and the Keeper assaulted the Landraider. The Prince did 2 wounds and the Keeper took one hull point from the Landraider. The center combated saw my Aspiring Champion actually win the challenge. I rolled on the reward chart and...POOF…Spawn. Suck. But I otherwise won the combat but the unit stayed because of ATSKNF.

His Stormraven came on and blew up one of the Heldrakes. The Landraider tried to kill the Keeper and failed. The combat in the center ended with all of his men dying. The Prince and Chapter Master each did a wound bringing the Chapter Master down to 1.

Turn 4: Powers went up on the Prince. The Heldrake flew off the board. The Keeper killed the Landraider.

He attempted to do Skies of Fury from his Stormraven to deploy the 12 man Crusader squad. However. the deep strike landed on my Obliterators. If the models can't be placed when attempting Skies of Fury the unit is destroyed. The Chapter Master did 1 wound to the Prince.

Turn 5: The Prince killed the Chapter Master and snap shots from the Obliterators killed the Stormraven.

Victory for Chaos!
